My husband Brady and I have been on a health journey for the last 3 years. We’ve learned how to eat more real foods and less processed foods. We enjoy food that makes us feel as good as it tastes.
Eat Differently to Feel Differently
Yes, we’ve both lost weight. (I lost 25 pounds and Brady lost 58 pounds.) That isn’t the best part of eating this way though. We feel so much younger and have more energy!
We do eat differently than most people, but we feel differently too! We have become foodies and actually crave healthy food. Healthy food is delicious once you break free from highly processed food that is designed to make you addicted to it.
We aren’t cheating on a diet made up of someone else’s rules. We make food choices based on how we know it will make us feel.
Brady has reduced his medications by over 50 pills a week. His autoimmune diseases (rheumatoid arthritis, psoriatic arthritis, and lupus) are under control and no longer steal his joy for living.
I sleep better and have so much energy. This was super evident at church camp this week. I spent the week at camp as a counselor. I’ve done this for the last 10 years. Of course I was tired at the end of the week, but nowhere near what I used to feel. I loved hanging out with these awesome teenagers and being able to keep up with their energy!
What do I have to give up?
You might be worried about what you’ll have to give up. You will have to give up processed food, but what you exchange it for is so much better for your health and your taste buds. You also might be able to give up a handful of ibuprofen, having to rest after a meal, and having heartburn or bloating issues.
It’s no coincidence that autoimmune diseases, chronic illnesses, and Alzheimer’s is on the rise as our food supply has become more and more factory food. If you truly listen to your intuition, you know it’s time to stop eating like a teenager and to start learning to eat real, nourishing food. It’s time to graduate to taking better care of yourself and start enjoying life more with energy and excitement!
